Every week, 38 Australians are diagnosed with myeloma, an incurable blood cancer that develops in the bone marrow. Despite this, many people have never heard of myeloma until they, or a loved one, are diagnosed with it. Starting May 2021, as part of National Myeloma Awareness Month, we hope to change that.

38mate is a campaign that aims to raise awareness about myeloma and show support and solidarity for those living with myeloma. Watch this video to learn about the campaign and how you can take part in it.

How can you get involved in 38mate?

38 people per week – hear their stories, share their stories

38 people being diagnosed with myeloma per week is not just a number. It is 38 lives and families. Throughout May, we’re releasing a series of short videos that tell the stories of people who are living with myeloma, caring for a loved one with myeloma, or who have lost a loved one to myeloma. The videos will be shared via our social media platforms, so be sure to follow along. Help us by sharing the videos to your own networks.

Here are some of our courageous 38mates who have chosen to share their stories to help raise awareness about myeloma.
