Over (a not so sunny) two days on the Gold Coast in May, Myeloma Australia proudly hosted our 6th Myeloma Clinical Education Workshop at the Hilton Surfers Paradise, welcoming 220 healthcare professionals from across Australia and New Zealand and for the patient stream 100 community members gathered.

Themed “Surfing the Wave of Progress: Advancing Myeloma Care”, the health care professional workshop began on Friday evening featuring an engaging panel discussion titled “The Road to Cure: A Pipe Dream or Real Possibility?” Panellists included Professor Simon Harrison, Specialist Myeloma Nurse Tash Clarke, and Myeloma Australia Chairman Jeff Browne, who shared their insights on the current landscape and future direction of myeloma care.

Saturday offered a full program of educational sessions for the health care professionals. Subject matter discussed included the latest developments in myeloma therapy, supportive care strategies, complex case management, and innovative treatments for relapsed and refractory disease were explored. Simultaneously the patient program commenced featuring a diverse lineup of expert speakers including haematologists, specialist myeloma nurses, exercise physiologists, dietitians, occupational therapists, and finished with a meditative sound bath.
