There is much activity at this time in the fundraising space of Myeloma Australia.

Our first major fundraising event for the year was our flagship Business of Winning Luncheon at the MCG. This was a great occasion attended by 250 guests. Thinking and planning for the 2019 iteration of this event are already afoot!

This was followed in late March with the My Mount Eliza Festival – which was another tremendous success.

This year we see Team Myeloma participating in a number of fun runs (and yes, I do appreciate that ‘fun run’ is an oxymoron to many people!!) in some of our major cities. The concept of the Team is to bring the myeloma communities in various cities together to walk/run together and raise funds for Myeloma Australia via sponsorship. Immediately following each event we are planning a social gathering of all those who are interested. The debut of Team Myeloma will be at the HBF Run For A Reason in Perth on the morning of Sunday 27th May. I know that our Perth nurses, Kerin and Narelle, are pumped about the event … and four of us from Myeloma HQ in Melbourne will be flying over for the weekend; at least one of us (me!) will be running in the 12km event and I am ever hopeful that CEO Steve and nurses Hayley and Nella will put their walking/running shoes on and participate too!! We are hoping to have a Team of at least 30 people for Perth. If you would like to join Team Myeloma for the Perth event please sign up at: www.hbfrun.com.au

Team Myeloma will be coming together in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide in July, August and September respectively.

We are also in the process of developing a suite of other fundraising products and initiatives. You would have seen on the front page of the website the Peoples Choice Lottery tickets. 100% of every $2 ticket purchased online comes to Myeloma Australia. You might also like to think about talking to your employer about workplace giving, a very effective form of giving whereby one’s employer is provided with opportunity to match any contribution made by an employee; for further details please visit www.good2give.ngo

These are really exciting times to be a part of Myeloma Australia; as we continue to expand we will have employed a fundraiser in each of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide by the end of 2018.  A key ingredient to our process of growth and on-going success is to raise significantly more funds to allow us to continue to employ more nurses who are working on the front-lines of assisting people living with myeloma. The expansion of Myeloma Australia is well and truly ON ladies and gentlemen!! One very significant way that you can play a part in this expansion is to support our fundraising efforts.

And to conclude, in my role here at Myeloma Australia I love nothing more than hearing about your fundraising dreams – no idea is too big, too small, too tame or too insane! Please continue to contact me with your thoughts and dreams and, if you are in Melbourne, do please drop into the office for a cuppa and a chat- I’d love to meet you!

Kind regards,

Matt Maudlin. Fundraising & Marketing Executive. Myeloma Australia.
