What is MCAB?

The Myeloma Community Advisory Board (MCAB) provides an opportunity for people who are living with or alongside myeloma to collaborate with Myeloma Australia to lead positive change for the benefit of all people living with myeloma.

Myeloma Australia believes that it is vital that we include members of our Australian myeloma community when developing programs, processes, and products which support them.

These include:

  • Involvement in the design, planning, implementation and review of Myeloma Australia projects, programs and resources
  • Assist in identifying gaps, barriers, strengths and opportunities for improvement in support of the myeloma community
  • Inform innovative change processes and partnerships with external groups
  • Reflect on priority issues requiring community engagement
  • Strengthen the community voice in advocacy and awareness

The MCAB terms of reference can be requested for review via emailing support@myeloma.org.au

How it benefits MA and the MA community

MA’s advocacy and awareness strategy is of utmost importance to not only the community, but also to the direct flow on affects in treatment access and supportive care provided.

We are determined to raise community awareness and understanding of myeloma, and to improve patient access to the latest treatments.

Raising the voice of Australians with myeloma in government, policy and drug access is essential to the continued innovation of treatment options in Australia.

Who are the MCAB members

The 2025 Group was elected after careful consideration, with the aim of representing the diverse demographics, cultures, and geographic locations of our community, particularly those in rural and remote areas.

We also prioritised the inclusion of people with lived experience of myeloma, as well as clinical and carer perspectives, recognising the critical value they bring.
